According to this story and Slashdot discussion , the UK government carefully checks out each RAF officer who might handle sensitive information. They don't want the wrong type of person who might be subject to blackmail. But then they store taped copies of these interviews on hard disks and then the hard disks disappear. (A smarter thief would just make a copy.) Who has them? Let's just hope they're not in the business of blackmailing RAF officers because the UK government just made it much easier for them. Apparently the interviews include full confessions to things that were bad enough to destroy a marriage but apparently not bad enough to rule out trusting the officer with the keys to the kingdom. Hmmm...
